Amalgamated Printer’s Association  A membership organization of letterpress enthusiasts. Annual Wayzgoose meetings.

American Amateur Press Association Promoting amateur journalism. Offers letterpress resources, printing groups, printing history and annual meetings to all levels of homemade publishers – deluxe letterpress printed journals to Xeroxed newsletters and zines.

American Printing History Association  An international membership organization that encourages the study of the history of printing and related arts and crafts, including calligraphy, typefounding, typography, papermaking, bookbinding, illustration, and publishing. Annual conference, lecture series, scholarly journal etc.

Briar Press A community of printers and artists dedicated to the preservation of letterpress. Discussion forums, classifieds, listings of press names, printer’s yellow pages, buying guides etc.

Center for Book Arts  New York, NY  It promotes active explorations of both contemporary and traditional artistic practices related to the book as an art object. Offers exhibitions, classes, public programming, literary presentations, publications and collections.

Codex Foundation  To preserve and promote the contemporary hand-made book as a work of art in the broadest possible context and to bring to public recognition the artists, the craftsmanship, and the rich history of the civilization of the book.

College Book Arts Association  A non-profit organization that supports and promotes academic book arts education by fostering the development of its practice, teaching, scholarship and criticism on a college or university level. All residents of North America may apply for membership.

Franklin Furnace Archives  To present, preserve, interpret, proselytize and advocate on behalf of avant-garde art, especially forms that may be vulnerable due to institutional neglect, cultural bias, their ephemeral nature, or politically unpopular content. Serving artists by providing physical and virtual venues for time-based art, artists’ books, periodicals, installation art, performance art etc.

Guild of Bookworkers  A national organization of all the book arts, promoting interest in and awareness of the tradition of the book and paper arts by maintaining high standards of workmanship. Regional US chapters offer newsletters, exhibitions, tours, talks, lectures, demonstrations and workshops.

Hand Bookbinders of California  Group of hand bookbinders with shared interests in creating and collecting fine bindings, joined together to promote hand bookbinding and related book arts. Membership, resources, workshops, exhibitions etc.

Kalamazoo Book Arts Center  Practices, teaches and promotes the collaborative arts of the book:  paper making, printmaking, letterpress and bookbinding. Creative public space where artists and book enthusiasts collaborate and celebrate books and the many arts that inform them.

Ladies of Letterpress  International trade organization for letterpress printers and print enthusiasts on a mission to promote the art and craft of letterpress printing and to encourage the voice and vision of women printers. Membership is open to both men & women.

Letterpress Guild of New England  A group of professional printers, hobbyists, and others interested in the art and craft of letterpress. Studio trips, talks, and shared information and camaraderie.

Miniature Book Society  An international, non-profit organization chartered in 1983 to facilitate interest in all facets of miniature books. The MBS Archives are held at the Lilly Library, University of Indiana, in Bloomington, Indiana.

Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory & Educational Foundation  The largest art center in the United States dedicated to every facet of paper making, book arts and letterpress printing and to cultivating the talents of established and emerging artists.  An international destination that is free and open to the public, the Morgan Conservatory is a gathering space and educational hub and purveyor of some of the finest handmade papers in the world.

Movable Book Society  A nonprofit organization that provides a forum for artists, book sellers, book producers, collectors, curators, and others to share enthusiasm and exchange information about pop-up and movable books.

Museum of Printing  Haverhill, MA. Dedicated to preserving the history of the graphic arts, printing and typesetting technology, and printing craftsmanship. Special collections and small exhibits in addition to antique printing, typesetting, and bindery machines and a library of books and printing-related documents.

National Museum of Women in the Arts  Washington, DC. The Library and Research Center holds more than 800 unique and limited-edition books by women artists with an additional 200 held in the museum’s fine arts collection.

North Redwoods Book Arts Guild  Founded in 1995 to promote, encourage, and educate participants about book arts (traditional as well as non-traditional forms of bookbinding) and related arts.

Puget Sound Book Artists  On a mission to further the knowledge, practice and understanding of the art of the book by means of educational activities including but not limited to lectures, workshops, and exhibits.

San Diego Book Arts  An educational and creative resource to advance the book as a vital contemporary art form.

San Francisco Center for the Book  San Francisco, CA.  Opened in July 1996, with Pacific Center for the Book Arts and Hand Bookbinders of California as institutional members. Offers public programs, exhibitions, and studio workshops in all areas of Book Arts.

Santa Fe Book Arts Group  A broad community of art enthusiasts who support innovative interpretations of books as contemporary art forms and the advancement of alternative art forms as books.

The Ticknor Society  Book collectors, booksellers, librarians, historians, archivists, conservators, printers, publishers, writers, and all lovers and readers of books. Dedicated to the enjoyment, promotion, and support of books and book culture.
