Iceland Scapes
Book map/folder is created with heavy book boards, clad with cloth. Short board turns in first, then wider board closes the folder. Book is created with monotype printed work on various thin papers. After printing, the pages are dipped into hot bees wax which allows the pages to become transparent. Various pages are hand-stitched with cotton treads in various colors. Also, some of the pages have been cut as slivers in order to view the pages behind. The pages are also in various sizes as they are bound into a 20-page book.
Closed: 12 x 10″
Iceland Horizons
Holder of loose monotype prints of images of Iceland’s landscape. The holder was to emulate an old-fashioned map holder when travelers went about the country on horseback. The outside of the holder is an old map, and when it is opened, the inside panels are clad with blue handmade paper. Holder is closed with a linen ribbon. The container holds 9 monotype prints in addition of a page of colophon, a brief statement containing information about the book, the artist, and the date of publication. The color blue is dominant in Iceland’s landscape. The multiple hues and tones of blue color give an endless variety by the distance, the reflection of the ocean and the treeless mountains yonder.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
The fine art medium of hand-made books inspires me. From my childhood and through my profession of graphic design, working with three-dimensional space, building visually interesting shapes and forms is my delight.
As I have now turned solely to fine art printmaking mediums, I now combine it with creating my art books.
Ultimately, my journey in creating these art books is about sharing stories and connecting with others, fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty and complexity of this unique art form.
