Some books are just a long time in the making, with ideas floating around until the right combination of materials, image and structure come together. This untitled book is made with a felted cover completed in a workshop led by Heather Kerner in 2007, teaching a wet felting process. The subsequent book, with watercolor pages of Arches watercolor paper, was completed later. The illustrations are collaged from cutouts of my watercolor/ink paintings featuring sea monsters in seashore settings, circa 1998. End sheets are Canson Mi-tientes. The long stitch binding features weaving on the spine, felted closure and a felted bookmark.
