A stream emerges from the rocks and flows down the rock face. This is portrayed using a modified star book structure with toned cyanotype on paper and wet cyanotype on transparency film.

This piece was inspired by the book by Susanna Clarke, Piranesi. In the novel a character is trapped in an alternate universe of staircases, statuary, and mazes. Reading this during the early days of lockdown in the Covid pandemic I felt a strong identification with the protagonist who was called Piranesi. The book inspired me to look into the work of the 18th century artist, Giovanni Piranesi. I discovered that there were large format images in the public domain that could be downloaded. These became the background for the popup format of the cutouts and folds of my piece.
