BIO/ARTIST’S STATEMENT
As a retired health care professional, I discovered art as a creative process eight years ago and find it relaxing and therapeutic. It has afforded me the opportunity to meet a fabulous group of women who share the same passion.

I have always loved words and stumbled upon 3 words on my art journey that sum up my feeling and approach:

IKIGAI is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for being” and refers to having a worthwhile direction or purpose in life.

HYGGE is a Danish word meaning coziness and comfortable conviviality, a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. Danes are some of the happiest people in the world.

PAREIDOLIA is the tendency to perceive a specific meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern. Our brain recognizes faces, which explains why we are good at picking out meaningful shapes in random patterns.

I enjoy mixed media collage, with a combination of fabric and paper, and making handmade artist’s books.
